Role Overview
The Software Engineer I position is part of Nike’s Consumer Product & Innovation technology organization. Engineers in this team build and maintain software tools used by Nike’s design and creation community to develop footwear and apparel products. The role focuses on creating scalable applications, responsive web experiences, APIs, and cloud-native solutions that improve productivity and innovation across the organization.
You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders while contributing throughout the complete software development lifecycle. This includes development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of modern applications using front-end frameworks, AWS cloud services, and agile engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate scalable software solutions supporting Nike’s design and creation community.
- Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance web experiences using modern front-end technologies.
- Develop and integrate cloud-native applications, APIs, platforms, and services.
- Participate in Agile sprint ceremonies and complete assigned software development tasks.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business partners.
- Support the complete software development lifecycle including development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Improve application usability, scalability, reliability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Follow an API-first engineering approach while building software solutions.
- Contribute to operational excellence and software quality initiatives.
- Deliver intuitive and reliable software solutions aligned with business objectives.
Required Skills & Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 0–2 years of software development experience.
- Experience with React or Vue.js.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture and cloud-native development.
- Experience with DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and S3.
- Experience with testing frameworks including Mocha, Jasmine, and Jest.
- Strong understanding of design patterns and computer science fundamentals.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and domain-driven design.
- Preferred exposure to AI, Machine Learning, and data solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships within cross-functional teams.
